Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Hex Settlers at hexsettler.com (the "Service"), operated by edgeGear ("we", "us"). By creating a room, joining a game, or signing in, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Hex Settlers is a free, browser-based, turn-based multiplayer strategy game. Players create private rooms, invite others with a room code or link, and play on boards and with rules that can be customised. The Service is provided for entertainment. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian's permission.
3. Guest play and accounts
You can play as a guest without an account. A guest seat is tied to the browser session that created it and expires automatically; we cannot recover a seat if its credential is lost. Where accounts are offered, you may sign in with Google or Facebook. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in methods secure. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten or abuse other players, or use names, room titles, map names or rulebook names that are hateful, sexually explicit, or impersonate others;
- cheat by tampering with the client, forging or replaying requests, or attempting to see other players' private information;
- probe, scan, overload or interfere with the Service, or attempt to access rooms, accounts or administrative functions you are not authorised to use;
- use automated tools to create rooms or accounts at scale, or to scrape the Service;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms.
We may remove content, end rooms, or suspend or terminate access if we believe these rules have been broken or to protect the Service and its players.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the display names, map designs and rule configurations you create. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display them as needed to operate the Service (for example, showing your map to the other players in your room). Do not submit content you do not have the right to use.
6. Our content
The game software, artwork, text and design are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, redistribute or reverse engineer them except as permitted by law. Hex Settlers is an original game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any other game or game publisher.
7. Third-party sign-in
If you sign in with Google or Facebook, that provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to your use of it. We receive only the limited information described in our Privacy Policy. We do not post to your accounts, and we do not access your contacts or friends.
8. Availability and changes to games
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Rooms expire after a period of inactivity, and games in progress may be interrupted by maintenance or outages. We do not guarantee that a game will be saved indefinitely or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask us to delete your data as described on the Data Deletion page. We may suspend or end your access at any time, including for breach of these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date above shows when they last changed. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to tell you, for example with a notice in the Service. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
